Aubrey has gotten the “go ahead” from Carolina to do this IN PERSON event. If you guys remember, we piggy-backed our last in person event with Volunteering Untapped (VU) and it was a lot of fun! Remember to wear your Carolina blue and there will be some Carolina goodies for attendees. Please note, you have to register through the VU eventbrite link – HERE

We’re working with FIRST LEGO League to assist in building components of their RePlay Challenge obstacle course! The components are various LEGO kits that will include all pieces needed to build the component, as well as an instruction manual. This year’s theme is “sports, play, and fitness – moving, collaborating, competing, and celebrating.”
If you’ve never heard of this organization, here’s a little more info on them:
FIRST LEGO League (https://marylandfll.org/) provides students age 9-14 with a hands-on, interactive robotics program in a sports-like atmosphere. Teams of up to 10 players focus on team building, problem solving, creativity, and analytical thinking to develop solutions to a problem currently facing the world – the Challenge.
Pretty awesome, right? We’d love to see you come out for this event to lend a hand and get these kits built!
Here are the general details for the event:
- When: Saturday October 9, 2021 from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
- Where: Checkerspot Brewing Company (Second Floor)
1399 S. Sharp St, Baltimore, MD 21230- Parking: Checkerspot has a lot volunteers can use
- Afterparty: On-site at Checkerspot Brewing Company. Volunteers can purchase beer during the event as well as stick around afterwards for our typical afterparty.
We also have some important additional details below. PLEASE read them before registering:
- As this event is indoors, volunteers MUST be able to show proof of vaccination in order to volunteer for this event. We will be socially distanced on the second floor of Checkerspot, and volunteers will be seated for the building activity. The city still has its indoor mask mandate so you will be asked to wear a mask inside and as you move around/away from your seat.
- This event will take place from 12pm-3pm due to the Baltimore Marathon taking place on the same date. Please use Google Maps to navigate to Checkerspot, as it should include any road closures/delays from the Marathon.
